Two days just over the Belgian border: Old Lille, its Flemish façades and waffles, and the superb La Piscine museum in Roubaix.
Barely two hours on the road and you are in Lille, the warm and gourmet capital of French Flanders. A guided tour reveals the colourful façades of Old Lille, the Vieille Bourse and the Grand-Place, close to the belfry of the Chamber of Commerce. The little tourist train and free time on café terraces let you enjoy the city without tiring yourself. The next day, Roubaix has a lovely surprise in store: La Piscine, a museum set in a former Art Deco swimming pool, where sculptures are reflected in the great pool. The journey is short, the pace relaxed and your half-board hotel awaits you in the evening: an ideal weekend for a club or association.
Programme
Day 1: Old Lille
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Drive to Lille with a break: our drivers drive no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Lunch in a traditional estaminet in Old Lille (on request).
- Guided tour of Old Lille: Grand-Place, Vieille Bourse, Place du Théâtre and Rue de la Monnaie (on request).
- City tour by little tourist train (on request).
- Free time for a filled waffle or a coffee on a terrace, then check-in at the hotel.
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Roubaix and return
- Breakfast at the hotel, then a short drive to Roubaix.
- Guided tour of La Piscine, the museum of art and industry set in a former Art Deco swimming pool (on request).
- Lunch at a restaurant in Roubaix or Lille (on request).
- Free time in Lille for some last shopping.
- Return to your region in the late afternoon.
