A gentle day between Lier, with its Zimmer Tower and Béguinage, and Meise Botanic Garden, its glasshouses and castle.

Lier is a peaceful little town in the province of Antwerp, crossed by the river Nete and proud of its Zimmer Tower, whose astronomical clock shows the phases of the moon and the tides. Your group then wanders through the Béguinage, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where cobbled lanes wind between white houses. The afternoon is devoted to Meise Botanic Garden, a vast park around Bouchout Castle, with its ponds, remarkable trees and large heated Plant Palace, pleasant in any weather. The paths are wide and flat, with benches for a rest, and everyone chooses how far to walk. A green and restful outing, without a tiring drive.

  • Drive to Lier, with a coffee break on the way (our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break).
  • Guided tour of the Zimmer Tower and its astronomical clock (on request).
  • Gentle stroll through the Béguinage, then on the market square.
  • Tasting of “Lierse vlaaikens”, the town’s traditional little tart (on request).
  • Seated lunch in a restaurant in Lier (on request).
  • Short drive to Meise Botanic Garden.
  • Guided tour of the Plant Palace and its tropical glasshouses (on request).
  • Free time in the park, around the pond and Bouchout Castle.
  • Return to your region in the evening.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required for each participant; departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point.
  • Walking level: easy (flat paths in the botanic garden, some cobblestones in the Béguinage).
  • Wheelchair users or guests with reduced mobility: please let us know when booking so that we can adapt the programme.
  • The park is especially beautiful from April to October; the glasshouses are open all year, times to be checked.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
