Four days in the province of Liège: the Fiery City, Blegny-Mine, the spa town of Spa, the High Fens and Val-Dieu.
The province of Liège combines a lively city, industrial heritage and unspoilt nature. In Liège, your group discovers the Palace of the Prince-Bishops, the Hors-Château district and the Liège-Guillemins station designed by Santiago Calatrava. At Blegny-Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the guided descent into the galleries tells the story of the miners’ lives. Spa, the town whose name has been given to spa resorts all over the world, invites you to relax, before a short walk at Signal de Botrange, the highest point in Belgium, in the High Fens. The trip ends at Val-Dieu Abbey, in the Herve region, with its beer and cheeses. Three nights in the same hotel with a lift mean no repacking.
Programme
Day 1: The Fiery City
- Departure in the morning from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Comfortable coach journey; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Liège in the late morning.
- Reserved lunch in the centre, with Liège-style meatballs (on request)
- Guided tour of the centre: Palace of the Prince-Bishops, Place du Marché and the Hors-Château district (on request)
- View of the Montagne de Bueren, a staircase of 374 steps best admired from below.
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Blegny-Mine and Guillemins
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided visit of Blegny-Mine with descent into the galleries (on request)
- Reserved lunch in Blegny (on request)
- Stop at Liège-Guillemins station, designed by Santiago Calatrava.
- Visit of the Museum of Walloon Life (on request)
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Spa and the High Fens
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Spa.
- Stroll in the centre of Spa, around the Pouhon Pierre le Grand spring.
- Relaxation session at the Thermes de Spa, reached by funicular (on request)
- Reserved lunch in Spa (on request)
- Drive to Signal de Botrange and short walk on the boardwalks of the High Fens.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Val-Dieu and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive through the Herve region, with its orchards and meadows.
- Guided visit of Val-Dieu Abbey with beer and cheese tasting (on request)
- Reserved lunch in the area (on request)
- Return journey in the late afternoon, arriving back in your area in the evening.
