A 7-day stay on the Cantabrian coast: 4 nights in Laredo near La Salvé beach, Santoña and its anchovies, Castro Urdiales and Santander.

On Spain's green coast, Laredo offers one of the longest beaches in the north of the country and a mild climate, ideal for those who prefer to avoid great heat. Your group stays 4 nights in a hotel near La Salvé beach, whose promenade is completely flat. Excursions lead to Santoña, the anchovy port, to Castro Urdiales and its Gothic church by the water, and to Santander, an elegant seaside city. Laredo's old quarter, the Puebla Vieja, is explored on foot during a day without the coach. The route runs via Bordeaux and the Basque Country, with a stopover night in the Poitiers area on the way out and back.

Programme

Day 1: Journey to France

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Coffee break on the way and free lunch at a service area or roadside restaurant.
  • Arrival in the Poitiers area in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel for a stopover night.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Drive to Cantabria

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive into Spain via Bordeaux and the Basque Country.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Laredo in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel near the beach for 4 nights.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Laredo on foot

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • A day without the coach (driver's rest day).
  • Walk along La Salvé beach, several kilometres long.
  • Guided tour of the Puebla Vieja, Laredo's old quarter (on request).
  • Free afternoon on the beach or on a café terrace.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Santoña and Castro Urdiales

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Santoña (about 25 minutes), a port renowned for its anchovies.
  • Visit to an anchovy cannery with tasting (on request).
  • Lunch in a restaurant (on request).
  • In the afternoon, Castro Urdiales, its Gothic church of Santa María and its castle-lighthouse by the water.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Santander

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Santander (about 45 minutes).
  • Tour of the Magdalena peninsula by little tourist train (on request).
  • Lunch in a restaurant (on request).
  • Free afternoon on the Sardinero promenade and in the town centre.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Journey to France

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to France and stopover night in the Poitiers area.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.

Day 7: Return to Belgium

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Return journey to Belgium.

Cancellation and refund protection
