Hvar island for senior groups: Stari Grad, Hvar town, Jelsa, Vrboska and the lavender villages (11 days)

Day 1: Departure and stopover in southern Germany

• Morning departure from the place of your choice.
• Regular breaks along the way: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
• Coffee break on the way and lunch at your own pace at a service area.
• Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Over the Alps to Zagreb

• Breakfast, then onward journey with regular breaks.
• Crossing Austria and Slovenia through the Alps.
• Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in the Zagreb area, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Split and crossing to Hvar

• Breakfast, then drive to Split on the motorway, with regular breaks.
• Ferry crossing from Split to Stari Grad (about two hours), with the coach on board.
• Check-in at the hotel for 6 nights, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Stari Grad and the Greek plain

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Guided tour of Stari Grad, ancient Pharos founded by the Greeks in 384 BC, and of Tvrdalj, the fortified residence of the poet Petar Hektorović (on request).
• Coach tour of the Stari Grad plain, whose plots of vines and olive trees still follow the Greek layout, listed by UNESCO.
• Tasting of island wines (Plavac Mali, Bogdanuša) at a family winery (on request).
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Hvar town

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Drive along the old island road through the lavender villages around Brusje.
• Guided tour of Hvar town: St Stephen’s Square, the cathedral, the Arsenal and its theatre of 1612 (on request).
• Optional climb to the Spanish fortress for the view over the Pakleni islands (steep path); the others enjoy the harbour and the terraces.
• Fish lunch at the harbour (on request).
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Free day

• Free day (the driver’s rest day): swimming, a nap in the shade of the pines or a stroll along the quay.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Jelsa and Vrboska

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Morning in Vrboska, a little fishing village built around an inlet crossed by small bridges.
• Easy walk along the sea to Jelsa (about 4 km; the coach follows for those who prefer), then free time on the square and harbour.
• Visit to a small lavender essential oil distillery (on request).
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: The Pakleni islands or free time

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Boat trip from Hvar to the Pakleni islands, with lunch in a cove (on request).
• For the others, a free day at the hotel or by the water.
• Last dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Ferry to Split and drive to the Zagreb area

• Breakfast, then morning ferry from Stari Grad to Split.
• Drive inland with regular breaks.
• Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in the Zagreb area, dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Over the Alps to southern Germany

• Breakfast, then through Slovenia and Austria with regular breaks.
• Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel in southern Germany, dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Return to Belgium

• Breakfast, then the last leg to Belgium with regular breaks.
• Arrival back in your region in the evening.
