Two days in the Meuse valley: Huy’s collegiate church and fort, the rooms of Modave Castle and the village of Crupet.
Huy, on the Meuse between Namur and Liège, is one of the oldest towns in Belgium and an ideal base for the gentle hills of the Condroz. Your group discovers the Grand-Place and its fountain, then the Collegiate Church of Our Lady with its great rose window, before going up by coach to the fort, which overlooks the valley and recalls the dark hours of the last war. The next day, Modave Castle reveals its rooms with stucco ceilings, perched on a rock above the Hoyoux. The day ends in the village of Crupet, one of the most beautiful in Wallonia, with its keep surrounded by water. The centre of Huy and the fort have cobbles and stairs, but the pace remains relaxed.
Programme
Day 1: Huy, a town on the Meuse
- Departure in the morning from the pick-up point of your choice.
- Coffee break on the way; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Huy in the late morning and stroll on the Grand-Place, around the Li Bassinia fountain.
- Reserved lunch on the banks of the Meuse (on request).
- Guided tour of the Collegiate Church of Our Lady and its treasury (on request).
- Visit of Huy Fort and its memorial (access by coach, stairs inside) (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Modave Castle and Crupet
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive through the hills of the Condroz.
- Guided tour of Modave Castle and its rooms (on request).
- Reserved lunch in the Condroz (on request).
- Stroll through the village of Crupet, around its medieval keep (outside view) and the St Anthony grotto.
- Return journey in the afternoon, arriving back in your area in the evening.

- A valid identity card is required; departure and return times are adapted to your pick-up point.
- Walking level: moderate (cobbled streets and a few slopes, at a gentle pace; comfortable shoes recommended).

- Modave Castle and Huy Fort are open mainly from April to November (to be checked each year).
