Seven days in Upper Silesia: Pszczyna Castle and its bison, a silver mine by boat, the Nikiszowiec estate and Jasna Góra.
Upper Silesia surprises those who know it only for its mining past. Your group visits Pszczyna Castle, a princely residence with intact interiors set in a large park where bison live, then the historic silver mine of Tarnowskie Góry, a UNESCO site, where the tour ends with a short boat ride underground. In Katowice, the red-brick workers’ estate of Nikiszowiec and the Silesian Museum, housed in a former mine, tell the story of the region. The last day on site leads to Częstochowa, to the sanctuary of Jasna Góra and its icon of the Black Madonna, a major Polish pilgrimage site. The trip includes an overnight stop on the way out and back, a single hotel for four nights and a free day, the driver’s rest day.
