Nine days on the Polish Baltic: Gdańsk and its Royal Route, Malbork Castle, Sopot pier and Gothic Toruń.
Gdańsk, the great Hanseatic port, rebuilt its tall merchants’ houses, its Neptune Fountain and its old wooden crane on the Motława after the war. Mariacka Street, with its carved terraces and amber shops, is one of the most charming in Poland. Your group also visits Malbork Castle, the former fortress of the Teutonic Knights and the largest brick castle in the world, as well as Sopot and its long wooden pier over the sea. On the way, a stop in Toruń, Copernicus’s birthplace, lets you taste the famous gingerbread. Five nights in the same hotel in Gdańsk, a rest day on site and overnight stops on the way out and back make for an unhurried journey.
