A day in Dinant: the citadel reached by cable car, a cruise on the Meuse and the home town of Adolphe Sax.
Nestled between the Meuse and its cliffs, Dinant offers one of the finest views in Wallonia, with the onion dome of its collegiate church at the foot of the rock. Instead of climbing the 400 or so steps to the citadel, your group rides up by cable car and enjoys the view over the valley. A peaceful cruise on the Meuse then reveals the riverbanks and the Bayard Rock from the deck. Dinant is also the birthplace of Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone, and the home of the “couque”, a very hard biscuit eaten in small pieces. A day without fatigue, with a booked lunch and free time on the quays.
