Four days in Burgundy: Dijon and its dukes, the Cité de la Gastronomie, Clos de Vougeot and the Hospices de Beaune.
Burgundy is a land of heritage and fine food, ideal for a group that loves beautiful stonework and good produce. In Dijon, the Palace of the Dukes and States of Burgundy, the mansions and the little lucky owl carved on the church of Notre-Dame are discovered with a guide, then by little train. The Route des Grands Crus then runs through villages with famous names to the Château du Clos de Vougeot, in the middle of the vineyards. In Beaune, the Hôtel-Dieu of the Hospices, with its glazed tiled roofs, houses the Last Judgement polyptych by the Flemish painter Rogier van der Weyden. The same hotel for three nights, on half board, and a chance to taste mustard, gingerbread, parsleyed ham and Burgundy wines.
Programme
Day 1: Drive to Dijon
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Drive to Burgundy with regular breaks: our drivers drive no more than 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break.
- Lunch at a restaurant on the way (on request).
- Arrival in Dijon in the late afternoon, check-in at the hotel for three nights and dinner.
Day 2: Dijon, city of the dukes
- Breakfast, then guided tour of the historic centre: Palace of the Dukes, Notre-Dame church and its owl, Rue des Forges (on request).
- City tour by little tourist train (on request).
- Burgundian lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Visit of the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin (on request).
- Free time for mustard and gingerbread, then dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Route des Grands Crus and Beaune
- Breakfast and drive along the Route des Grands Crus via Gevrey-Chambertin.
- Visit of the Château du Clos de Vougeot (on request).
- Lunch at a restaurant in Beaune (on request).
- Guided tour of the Hospices de Beaune (Hôtel-Dieu) (on request).
- Cellar visit and tasting of Burgundy wines (on request).
- Return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 4: Return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Return journey with regular breaks.
- Lunch at a restaurant on the way (on request).
- Return to your region in the late afternoon or evening.
