Chimay, its princely castle and famous Trappist beer, then a relaxing cruise on the Eau d’Heure lakes.
In the south of Hainaut, Chimay is a peaceful little town with old lanes, known worldwide for the beer and cheese made by the monks of Scourmont Abbey. Your group discovers the castle of the Princes of Chimay, still inhabited, and its elegant little theatre, before strolling across the Grand-Place and stopping at the collegiate church. Lunch can be combined with a tasting of Trappist products, near the abbey. In the afternoon, the coach takes you to the Eau d’Heure lakes, the largest stretches of water in Belgium, for a commented cruise, seated on board, facing wooded shores. A day of nature and local flavours, with very little walking.
