A day in the Ardennes and Gaume: Bouillon’s fortified castle, the Semois valley and the ruins of Orval Abbey.
Nestled in a loop of the River Semois, Bouillon is dominated by the castle linked to the memory of Godfrey of Bouillon, leader of the First Crusade. Your group discovers the little town and its castle, or prefers the Archéoscope, which tells the story of the Crusades from a comfortable seat. After a booked lunch, the road follows the Semois to Orval Abbey, still home to Trappist monks. The ruins of the medieval abbey, the medicinal herb garden and the small museum make for a peaceful visit in the heart of the Gaume forest. A lovely day of nature and history, returning in the evening.
