Three days between elegant spa town Wiesbaden, Mainz and its cathedral, and the Rheingau vineyards with Eberbach Abbey.
Wiesbaden, a Belle Époque spa town about four hours’ drive from Belgium, welcomes your group with its Kurhaus, colonnades and hot springs. Just across the Rhine, Mainz, the city of Gutenberg, offers its great Romanesque cathedral and St Stephen’s Church, glowing with the blue windows of Marc Chagall. The neighbouring Rheingau unfolds its Riesling slopes, small wine towns such as Eltville and the remarkably preserved Cistercian abbey of Eberbach. Visits are on foot over short distances; St Stephen’s hill in Mainz involves a short climb, which the coach can spare you. Two nights in the same 3-star hotel on half board mean no repacking.
Programme
Day 1: Wiesbaden, spa town
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Journey with a coffee break and a lunch stop: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Wiesbaden in the early afternoon.
- Guided tour of the centre: Kurhaus, colonnades, the Kochbrunnen hot spring and Wilhelmstrasse (on request).
- Ride up the Neroberg on the historic water-powered funicular, with a view of the Russian Orthodox church (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Mainz and Eltville
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of Mainz: St Martin’s Cathedral, the Market Square and St Stephen’s Church with its Chagall windows (on request).
- Visit of the Gutenberg Museum, devoted to printing (on request).
- Seated lunch in the old town (on request).
- In the afternoon, drive to Eltville, the little town of roses on the Rhine, and free time on the promenade.
- Rheingau wine tasting at a winegrower’s (on request).
- Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Eberbach Abbey and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the Cistercian abbey of Eberbach, its Gothic halls and old cellars (on request).
- Free lunch, then return journey with regular breaks.
- Return in the evening to your region.

Good to know
- Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant; bring enough of any medication you take.
- Times adapted to your group’s pick-up point, from 20 participants, price on quotation; wheelchair users: please let us know when booking.
- Walking level: easy (flat streets, short climb to St Stephen’s Church in Mainz, cobblestones in the old towns).
- Possible all year round; the Neroberg funicular usually runs from April to October, to be checked each year.
