Three days in Swabia: central Stuttgart and its Markthalle, Ludwigsburg’s baroque palace and gardens, the Mercedes-Benz Museum.
The capital of Swabia, surrounded by vineyards, Stuttgart surprises with its parks, its great Palace Square and its Art Nouveau market hall full of flavours. A few kilometres away, Ludwigsburg is home to one of Germany’s largest baroque palaces, set in the flower gardens of the “Blühendes Barock”. Enthusiasts and the simply curious alike will enjoy the Mercedes-Benz Museum, visited by gently spiralling down, with lifts. The programme alternates visits and free time on short, flat routes, with coach journeys kept to a minimum. Two nights in the same 3-star hotel on half board make for a restful trip.
Programme
Day 1: The heart of Stuttgart
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Journey with a coffee break and a lunch stop: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Stuttgart in the early afternoon.
- Guided tour of the centre: Schlossplatz, New Palace, Old Palace and Stiftskirche (on request).
- Free time at the Markthalle, the Art Nouveau market hall, to taste Swabian specialities.
- Ascent of the Stuttgart TV Tower for a panorama over the city and vineyards (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Ludwigsburg, the Swabian Versailles
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of Ludwigsburg Residential Palace and its baroque apartments (on request).
- Seated lunch in Ludwigsburg (on request).
- Walk in the Blühendes Barock gardens (on request).
- Württemberg wine tasting at a winegrower’s (on request).
- Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Mercedes-Benz Museum and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, from the first motor car to racing cars (on request).
- Free lunch, then return journey with regular breaks.
- Return in the evening to your region.

- Walking level: easy (flat routes, lifts at the palace and museum; Ludwigsburg’s gardens are large but flat).
- Possible all year round; the Blühendes Barock gardens are open roughly from mid-March to early November, to be checked each year.
