A 7-day beach stay in Sottomarina: Chioggia, the little Venice, the Po Delta by boat, Comacchio and optional Venice.
Sottomarina, a fine-sand beach at the southern tip of the Venetian lagoon, is linked by a bridge to Chioggia, a fishing town of canals and colourful houses often called the little Venice. Your group stays four nights in a 3-star hotel near the sea, on half board, after a stopover night in southern Germany and the crossing of the Brenner. Chioggia is explored on foot, on the flat, along its wide Corso and fish market. One day is devoted to the Po Delta, a nature park of reed beds and birds enjoyed seated on a boat, then to Comacchio and its bridges over the canals. On the free day, those who wish can reach Venice by public boat across the lagoon, while the others enjoy the beach.
Programme
Day 1: Departure and overnight stopover (southern Germany)
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel (southern Germany), dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: The Brenner and the lagoon
- Breakfast, then drive through Austria, over the Brenner Pass and down the Adige valley, with regular breaks.
- Seated lunch on the way (on request).
- Late-afternoon arrival in Sottomarina and check-in at the hotel for 4 nights, dinner.
Day 3: Chioggia, the little Venice
- Short drive to Chioggia, on the other side of the bridge.
- Guided tour of Chioggia: Corso del Popolo, the Vena canal and its bridges, the cathedral (on request).
- Visit to the fish market, one of the largest in Italy (closed on some days).
- Lunch of lagoon fish (on request).
- Free afternoon at the beach, dinner at the hotel.
Day 4: The Po Delta and Comacchio
- Drive to the Po Delta.
- Commented cruise through the arms of the delta, among reed beds and birds (on request).
- Lunch of fish or eel, a local speciality (on request).
- In the afternoon, Comacchio: its canals, the Trepponti bridge and the old eel-marinating works.
- Return to Sottomarina and dinner at the hotel.
Day 5: Free day in Sottomarina or Venice
- Free day (driver's rest day): beach and seafront walk.
- Trip to Venice by public boat across the lagoon, with a local escort (on request).
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Leaving Sottomarina, then journey to the stopover (southern Germany)
- Breakfast, then departure via the Adige valley and the Brenner Pass.
- Seated lunch on the way (on request).
- Return journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel (southern Germany), dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then return journey with regular breaks.
- Evening return to your home area.

Good to know
- Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant. Bring enough of your usual medication.
- Departure and return times adapted to your group's pick-up point; stay offered from May to late September, dates to be checked each year. From 20 participants, price on quotation.
- Walking level: easy (short walks, some cobbled lanes); a meeting time at the coach is set each day with the driver. Wheelchair users or guests with reduced mobility: please tell us when booking.
- Currency: euro. Bring comfortable clothes for the journey, a hat and sun cream.
