An 8-day tour between Austria and Slovenia: Lake Wörthersee, Klagenfurt and Maria Wörth, then Lake Bled and Ljubljana.

On either side of the Karawanks, Austrian Carinthia and Slovenia share deep blue lakes and endless mountain views. Your group first stays on the shores of the Wörthersee, one of the warmest bathing lakes in the Alps, with its Belle Époque villas, Velden and the church of Maria Wörth on its peninsula. In Klagenfurt, the Dragon Fountain (Lindwurm) watches over Neuer Platz, at the heart of an old town with Renaissance courtyards. Beyond the Karawanks Tunnel comes Lake Bled, with its island and clifftop castle, followed by Ljubljana, a small green capital shaped by architect Jože Plečnik. Once there, there are no long drives, making it ideal for groups of all ages.

Programme

Day 1: Journey to Bavaria

  • Morning departure from the place of your choice.
  • Journey with regular breaks: no more than 3 hours of driving, then a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in the evening and overnight stop in Bavaria.

Day 2: On to the Wörthersee

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive via Salzburg and the Tauern motorway into Carinthia.
  • Check-in on the shores of the Wörthersee for 3 nights.
  • First stroll along the lake.

Day 3: Klagenfurt and Maria Wörth

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Discovery of Klagenfurt: Neuer Platz and the Dragon Fountain, Alter Platz and Renaissance courtyards.
  • Visit to the Minimundus miniature park (on request).
  • Stop at Maria Wörth and its church on the peninsula.
  • Trip up the Pyramidenkogel observation tower (on request).
  • Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 4: A day by the lake (driver’s rest day)

  • A day without the coach on the shores of the Wörthersee.
  • Boat cruise on the Wörthersee to Velden and Maria Wörth (on request).
  • Free time for walks, a swim in season or a lakeside terrace.
  • Dinner of Carinthian specialities (on request).

Day 5: Lake Bled and Ljubljana

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Into Slovenia through the Karawanks Tunnel and stop at Lake Bled.
  • Crossing by pletna boat to Bled Island and its church (on request).
  • Visit to Bled Castle (on request).
  • Tasting of kremšnita, Bled’s cream cake (on request).
  • Check-in in Ljubljana for 2 nights.

Day 6: Ljubljana

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Discovery of Ljubljana: Prešeren Square, the Triple Bridge, the Dragon Bridge and Plečnik’s central market.
  • Guided tour of Ljubljana’s old town (on request).
  • Funicular ride up to Ljubljana Castle (on request).
  • Boat trip on the Ljubljanica (on request).
  • Free time in town.

Day 7: Journey to Bavaria

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Departure from Ljubljana and drive through Austria.
  • Journey with regular breaks: no more than 3 hours of driving, then a 30-minute break.
  • Overnight stop in Bavaria.

Day 8: Return to Belgium

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Journey with regular breaks: no more than 3 hours of driving, then a 30-minute break.
  • Evening return to your region.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card for each participant; departure and return times adapted to your group’s pick-up point.
  • Currency: euro (Austria and Slovenia); best from May to September, with swimwear for the lake in summer.
  • Wörthersee boats mainly run from April to October: check the timetable for the season.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
