An 8-day tour of Slovenia: Kranjska Gora, Vršič Pass, the emerald Soča Valley and the lakes of Bled and Bohinj.
The Julian Alps are Slovenia’s mountain heartland, gathered around Triglav, the country’s highest peak. Your group first settles in Kranjska Gora, then crosses Vršič Pass, Slovenia’s highest mountain road, where a small wooden Russian chapel stands among the trees. On the other side lies the Soča Valley, with its emerald-green river and the town of Kobarid, whose museum tells the story of the First World War front. The tour continues to Bled, with its church on an island in the middle of the lake and its castle perched on a cliff, and then to wilder Lake Bohinj. Overnight stops in Bavaria on the way out and back keep the long journeys comfortable.
