Rome: the Colosseum, the Vatican, Orvieto and Assisi (10 days)

Day 1: Journey to northern Italy

• Early morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice, with two drivers on board.
• Route through Luxembourg, Alsace, Switzerland and the Gotthard tunnel.
• Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
• Overnight stop in northern Italy, in the Milan area.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Orvieto and arrival in Rome

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Route to central Italy.
• Funicular ride up to Orvieto and visit to the cathedral with its golden facade (on request).
• Lunch in Orvieto (on request).
• Arrival in the Rome area in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel for 6 nights.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Ancient Rome

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Guided tour of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine (on request).
• Lunch in a Roman trattoria (on request).
• In the afternoon, Capitoline Square and its views over the Forum.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: The Vatican

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Guided tour of the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel (on request).
• Visit to St Peter's Basilica and its square.
• Lunch near the Vatican (on request).
• Papal general audience on Wednesdays, depending on the calendar (on request).
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Free day in Rome

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Free day (drivers' rest day): Rome by public transport or tourist bus, at your own pace.
• Hop-on hop-off tourist bus tour of Rome (on request).
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Baroque Rome

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Guided walk: Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the Spanish Steps (on request).
• Lunch in the centre (on request).
• Free time for a coffee or an ice cream on a square.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Tivoli and Villa d'Este

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Drive to Tivoli (about 1 hour).
• Visit to the gardens and fountains of Villa d'Este (on request).
• Lunch in Tivoli (on request).
• Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Assisi and Tuscany

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Drive to Umbria and guided tour of Assisi and the Basilica of St Francis (on request).
• Lunch in Assisi (on request).
• Route to Tuscany and overnight stop in the Florence area.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Journey to Basel

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Route via Milan and the Gotthard tunnel, with two drivers on board.

• Overnight stop in the Basel area.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Return to Belgium

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• Return journey through Alsace and Luxembourg.
• Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
• Return to your region in the late afternoon.
