Eight days on the Riviera di Levante: Portofino and Santa Margherita, the Cinque Terre by boat and the palaces of Genoa.

Between the sea and olive-covered hills, the Ligurian Riviera lines up villages with colourful facades, fishing harbours and palm-lined promenades. Based for five nights on the Gulf of Tigullio, your group takes the boat to Portofino and the abbey of San Fruttuoso, then discovers the UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre from the sea, which avoids most of the steps. One day is devoted to Genoa, city of the grand palaces of Via Garibaldi and the old harbour. An overnight stop in Switzerland breaks the journey on the way out and back, and a free day leaves time to enjoy the seaside. As the villages are built on hillsides, the walking level is moderate.

Programme

Day 1: Journey to Switzerland

  • Morning departure from the pick-up point of your choice.
  • Route through Luxembourg and Alsace.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Overnight stop in Switzerland, in the Lucerne area.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: The Gotthard and the Riviera

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Route through the Gotthard tunnel and the Po plain.
  • Arrival in the afternoon on the Gulf of Tigullio (Rapallo area) and check-in at the hotel for 5 nights.
  • Stroll along the seafront.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Santa Margherita and Portofino

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Stroll through Santa Margherita Ligure and its Villa Durazzo.
  • Boat crossing to Portofino and free time around the piazzetta.
  • Lunch in Portofino (on request).
  • Boat trip to the abbey of San Fruttuoso (on request).
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: The Cinque Terre by sea

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Excursion to the Cinque Terre by boat, from the Gulf of Tigullio or La Spezia depending on the season (on request).
  • Stops in Monterosso and Vernazza, with free time in the lanes.
  • Lunch of fish and pesto in a village (on request).
  • Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Free day on the Riviera

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Free day (driver's rest day): beach, promenade, market or cafés in Rapallo.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Genoa the Superb

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Genoa (about 30 kilometres).
  • Guided tour of the historic centre, the palaces of Via Garibaldi and the old harbour (on request).
  • Lunch of Genoese specialities, focaccia and trofie with pesto (on request).
  • Visit to the Genoa Aquarium (on request).
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Journey to Switzerland

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Return route via Milan and the Gotthard tunnel.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Overnight stop in Switzerland, in the Lucerne area.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Return to Belgium

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Return journey through Alsace and Luxembourg.
  • Regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Return to your region in the late afternoon.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
