A 7-day stay in Istria: Poreč and its Byzantine mosaics, colourful Rovinj and a boat trip on the Lim Fjord.
Istria, the Croatian peninsula closest to Belgium for a coach trip, combines small Venetian towns, olive groves and clear-water coves. Your group stays four nights in Poreč, in a 3-star hotel with lift on half board, within walking distance of the old town. The Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, keeps 6th-century mosaics of astonishing freshness. One day is devoted to Rovinj, its colourful houses clustered around the Church of St Euphemia, and to the Lim Fjord, explored at leisure by boat. The stay keeps a gentle pace, with a free day for the sea and the harbour terraces, and a stopover night on the way out and back.
Programme
Day 1: Departure and overnight stopover (southern Germany)
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel (southern Germany), dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Arrival in Poreč
- Breakfast, then the last part of the journey with regular breaks.
- Afternoon arrival, check-in at the hotel for 4 nights, dinner.
Day 3: Poreč, a Venetian town
- Guided tour of Poreč old town and the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (on request).
- Stroll along the Decumanus, the main street inherited from Roman times, and along the harbour.
- Free afternoon; boat trip along the coast from the harbour (on request).
Day 4: Rovinj and the Lim Fjord
- Short drive to Rovinj, a small fishing port with colourful houses.
- Guided tour of Rovinj up to the Church of St Euphemia and its sea view (on request).
- Fish lunch in a coastal restaurant (on request).
- Commented boat trip on the Lim Fjord, an inlet lined with forests (on request).
- Return to Poreč in the late afternoon.
Day 5: Free day in Poreč
- Free day (driver's rest day): beach, seafront promenade and harbour market.
- Tasting of Istrian olive oil and wines in Poreč (on request).
- Dinner at the hotel.
Day 6: Leaving Poreč, overnight stopover (southern Germany)
- Breakfast, then return journey with regular breaks.
- Late-afternoon arrival at the stopover hotel (southern Germany), dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast, then return journey with regular breaks.
- Evening return to your home area.

- Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant.
- Departure and return times adapted to your group's pick-up point; stay offered from May to late September, dates to be checked each year. From 20 participants, price on quotation.
- Walking level: moderate (sloping lanes and some steps in the old towns); every visit can be shortened, and a meeting time at the coach is set each day.
- Currency: euro. Bring comfortable clothes for the journey, a hat and sun cream.
