Two days in Westphalia: Münster’s arcaded old town, the 1648 Hall of Peace and two castles surrounded by water.

Münster is a peaceful, elegant city about three hours’ drive from Belgium, where bicycles outnumber cars. Your group discovers the Prinzipalmarkt with its gabled houses above arcades, then the Gothic town hall and its Hall of Peace, where part of the Peace of Westphalia was signed in 1648. St Paul’s Cathedral and its astronomical clock are also well worth a visit. On the second day, the coach takes you into the Münsterland countryside, famous for its moated castles, before an unhurried return. Visits are short and on level ground, and a 3-star hotel with lift welcomes you on half board.

Day 1: Münster, city of peace

  • Morning departure from the place of your choice.
  • Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Münster around midday.
  • Group lunch at a restaurant (on request).
  • Guided tour of the old town: Prinzipalmarkt, town hall and Hall of Peace, St Paul’s Cathedral (on request).
  • Free time to stroll under the arcades or along Lake Aasee.
  • Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: The moated castles of the Münsterland

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Hülshoff Castle, birthplace of the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, and walk in its park.
  • Continue to Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen, one of the finest moated castles in the region.
  • Guided tour of Vischering Castle (on request).
  • Group lunch at a restaurant (on request).
  • Departure in mid-afternoon.
  • Return journey with regular breaks, arriving in your region in the evening.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
