Five days in Munich: Marienplatz and its glockenspiel, Viktualienmarkt, the Residenz, Nymphenburg Palace, Lake Starnberg and Andechs.
The capital of Bavaria, Munich happily blends royal palaces, baroque churches, beer halls and great parks. Your group discovers Marienplatz and the town hall glockenspiel, strolls through the Viktualienmarkt and visits the Residenz of the Bavarian kings, then Nymphenburg Palace and its famous Gallery of Beauties. A day in the countryside leads to Lake Starnberg and Andechs Abbey on its “holy mountain”, renowned for its beer and, on clear days, its view of the Alps. The journey there and back is long, about eight hours of driving from Liège, but broken by regular breaks, and the three days on site are lived at a gentle pace. The centre is pedestrian and flat; only the climb to Andechs church is rather steep.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Munich
- Early-morning departure from the place of your choice (a long day’s drive to Bavaria).
- Journey with a coffee break and a lunch stop: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Munich in the evening, check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: The heart of Munich
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided walking tour of the centre: Marienplatz and the New Town Hall glockenspiel, the Frauenkirche and the Viktualienmarkt (on request).
- Bavarian lunch in a traditional beer hall (on request).
- Visit of the Residenz, palace of the Bavarian kings, and its Treasury (on request).
- Free time, then dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Nymphenburg and the English Garden
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of Nymphenburg Palace, the Gallery of Beauties and the Carriage Museum (on request).
- Walk in the palace park, then free lunch.
- Panoramic coach tour: Odeonsplatz, Ludwigstrasse and the Olympic Park.
- Break in the English Garden, near the Chinese Tower.
- Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Lake Starnberg and Andechs
- Breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Lake Starnberg.
- Cruise on Lake Starnberg (on request).
- Drive to Andechs Abbey and visit of its baroque church.
- Lunch at the abbey brewery restaurant (on request).
- Return to Munich, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel, then return journey with a coffee break and a lunch stop.
- Return in the evening to your region.

Good to know
- Valid identity card and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for each participant; bring enough of any medication you take.
- Times adapted to your group’s pick-up point, from 20 participants, price on quotation; wheelchair users: please let us know when booking.
- Walking level: easy in town (flat pedestrian centre); short but rather steep climb to Andechs church.
- Best from April to October; Lake Starnberg cruises are seasonal and the Oktoberfest period (late September) is very busy, to be checked each year.
