Three Christmas days in Flanders: Mechelen and its Grote Markt, Gothic Leuven and the Hasselt Winterland.

Away from the crowds of the big cities, Mechelen, Leuven and Hasselt offer warm Christmas markets that are easy to explore. In Mechelen, the chalets are set up on the Grote Markt, in front of St Rumbold’s Cathedral. Leuven combines the Christmas atmosphere with its extraordinary Gothic town hall and St Peter’s Church. In Hasselt, Winterland offers chalets and entertainment, and the city is also the capital of jenever, to be discovered at the National Jenever Museum. Two nights in the same hotel with a lift, reserved lunches and short days make this a very restful trip.

Day 1: Mechelen

  • Departure in the morning from the pick-up point of your choice.
  • Comfortable coach journey; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Mechelen in the late morning.
  • Reserved lunch in the centre (on request)
  • Guided tour of the centre: Grote Markt, St Rumbold’s Cathedral and the Great Béguinage (on request)
  • Free time at the Christmas market.
  • Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Leuven

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Short coach ride to Leuven.
  • Guided tour of the centre: town hall and St Peter’s Church (on request)

  • Free time at the Leuven Christmas market.
  • Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Hasselt and return

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Hasselt.

  • Free time at the Hasselt Winterland.
  • Return journey in the late afternoon, arriving back in your area in the evening.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
