Tournai at Christmas: chalets on the Grand-Place, the five-towered cathedral, Belgium’s oldest belfry and the Scheldt.

Tournai, one of the oldest towns in Belgium, sets up its Christmas chalets on its large triangular square. Your group discovers Notre-Dame Cathedral and its five towers, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as the belfry, the oldest in the country. After a seated lunch, perhaps with rabbit Tournai-style, a short walk leads to the Pont des Trous on the Scheldt. The rest of the afternoon is free to stroll among the chalets and settle into a café on the Grand-Place. The centre is flat and compact, though cobbled in places: walking remains easy.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required; departure and return times are adapted to your pick-up point.
  • Walking level: easy (flat, compact centre with some cobblestones; climbing the belfry stairs is not planned).
  • Christmas markets run from late November to late December, to be checked each year; wheelchairs and reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
