Ostend in winter: a Christmas market in the town centre, a seafront stroll, the Mercator tall ship and North Sea flavours.

Ostend, the “queen of the beaches”, also comes alive in winter: its Christmas market is set up in the heart of town, around the Wapenplein. Your group starts with the sea air of the promenade and the Royal Galleries, then sits down to a North Sea lunch of grey shrimp croquettes or fish of the day. In the afternoon, a visit to the Mercator three-master moored in the harbour, or to James Ensor’s house, can complete the day. There is still time to stroll among the chalets and enjoy a hot chocolate facing the sea. The centre and the promenade are flat: walking is easy, only the wind can be chilly.

Programme

  • Departure in the morning from the place of your choice.
  • Comfortable coach journey; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Coffee break on the way.
  • Arrival in Ostend in the late morning and a short walk along the seafront and the Royal Galleries.
  • Seated lunch with North Sea flavours, grey shrimp croquettes or fish of the day (on request)
  • Visit of the Mercator three-master or James Ensor’s house (on request)
  • Free time at the Christmas market in the town centre, around the Wapenplein.
  • Return in the evening to your region.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required; departure and return times are adapted to your pick-up point.
  • Walking level: easy (flat centre and promenade; the sea wind can be cold, bring a scarf and hat). The Mercator has narrow gangways and stairs.
  • Christmas markets run from late November to late December, to be checked each year; wheelchairs and reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
