A day at Mons Cœur en neige: chalets on the Grand-Place, the baroque belfry, Saint Waltrude’s and the lucky monkey.

Every winter, Mons lights up for “Mons Cœur en neige”, with chalets on the Grand-Place and in the nearby streets. Your group discovers the Gothic town hall and its little iron monkey, whose head people stroke for good luck, then the collegiate church of Saint Waltrude and its Golden Chariot. The baroque belfry, a UNESCO World Heritage site, towers over the town and can be visited by lift. A seated lunch in the warmth breaks up the day nicely, followed by plenty of free time among the chalets with mulled wine or a waffle. Please note: the Grand-Place is cobbled and gently sloping, and the belfry stands at the top of the hill; we adapt the route to everyone’s pace.

Programme

  • Comfortable coach journey; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.

Good to know

  • A valid identity card is required; departure and return times are adapted to your pick-up point.
  • Walking level: easy to moderate (cobblestones and a gentle climb to the belfry, many benches and cafés to rest).
  • Christmas markets run from late November to late December, to be checked each year; wheelchairs and reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
