A day in Kirchberg for your group: the European quarter, Mudam, Fort Thüngen, the Philharmonie and the funicular to the old town.
Facing Luxembourg’s old town, the Kirchberg plateau has become the Grand Duchy’s contemporary showcase in just a few decades. The red Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge leads to the towers of the Court of Justice of the European Union, to the Philharmonie with its forest of white columns designed by Christian de Portzamparc, and to Mudam, the modern art museum designed by I. M. Pei. The museum rests on the walls of Fort Thüngen, whose three towers, nicknamed the “Three Acorns”, house a museum on the history of the fortress. The funicular then runs down to Pfaffenthal, where a panoramic lift climbs back up to the UNESCO-listed old town. An original day out for groups interested in architecture, Europe and contemporary art.
