Two days in Kassel: UNESCO-listed Wilhelmshöhe Park, its water features, the palace and the Brothers Grimm museum.
Kassel hides one of Europe’s finest parks: the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site crowned by the great statue of Hercules. On water-feature days, the water rushes down cascades and basins to the great fountain, a show your group can follow partly on foot or admire from viewpoints reached by coach. Wilhelmshöhe Palace houses a fine gallery of Old Masters, including paintings by Rembrandt. The next day, the Grimmwelt brings to life the story of the tales of the Brothers Grimm, who lived in Kassel for many years. The park is hilly: our driver drops off and picks up the group as close as possible, and everyone chooses their own pace.
Programme
Day 1: Wilhelmshöhe Park
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Journey with a coffee break and a lunch stop: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Arrival in Kassel around midday and seated lunch in a restaurant (on request).
- Coach drive up to the Hercules monument and panoramic view over the city.
- On water-feature days, follow the cascades down the park paths, or return by coach for those who prefer to walk less.
- Visit of Wilhelmshöhe Palace and its gallery of Old Master paintings (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: The Brothers Grimm and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the Grimmwelt, the museum devoted to the tales of the Brothers Grimm (on request).
- Walk in the Karlsaue park and past the Orangery.
- Free lunch, then departure in the early afternoon.
- Return in the evening to your region.

- Walking level: moderate in Wilhelmshöhe Park (slopes and steps, coach option available), easy in town.
- Water features from May to early October, usually on Wednesday, Sunday and public holiday afternoons: to be checked each year.
