Two relaxed days on the Rhine: Cologne Cathedral, an optional river cruise and Beethoven’s birthplace in Bonn.

Close to Belgium, Cologne and Bonn make an ideal short break for a pensioners’ club, society or association. Your group discovers Cologne’s Gothic cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then strolls through the old town and along the Rhine embankment. The next day, Bonn, the former capital of West Germany, welcomes you to its old town, where Beethoven was born in 1770. The journey is short, with no early start, and the walks are brief and on level ground. A 3-star hotel with lift, on half board, completes this restful little trip.

Programme

Day 1: Cologne and its cathedral

  • Morning departure from the place of your choice.
  • Journey with regular breaks: our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
  • Arrival in Cologne in the late morning.
  • Group lunch at a restaurant (on request).
  • Guided tour of the cathedral and the old town (on request).
  • Free time on the cathedral square and along the Rhine embankment.
  • One-hour cruise on the Rhine (on request).
  • Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Bonn, Beethoven’s birthplace

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to Bonn (about 40 minutes).
  • Walk through the old town: Market Square, the old town hall and St Martin’s Basilica (Bonn Minster).
  • Visit to Beethoven’s birthplace (on request).
  • Group lunch at a restaurant (on request).
  • Departure in mid-afternoon.
  • Return journey with regular breaks, arriving in your region in the evening.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
