A Christmas week in Kraków for your group: the Rynek Główny market, Wawel, Kazimierz and the Wieliczka Salt Mine.
Poland’s former royal capital, Kraków has come through the centuries almost intact, and its historic centre was among the first sites inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. During Advent, the Christmas market fills Rynek Główny, a vast medieval square overlooked by the Cloth Hall and the towers of St Mary’s Basilica, from which the hejnał rings out every hour. Your group climbs up to Wawel, strolls through Kazimierz, the former Jewish quarter, and descends into the Wieliczka Salt Mine with its chapels and statues carved from salt. December is also the month of the szopki, Kraków’s glittering Christmas cribs. With an overnight stop in Germany each way and a free day in the city, the pace stays comfortable for everyone.
