Four days in Franconia: Nuremberg’s Christkindlesmarkt, its Lebkuchen and little sausages, then Bamberg and its nativity scenes.
Nuremberg’s Christkindlesmarkt, on the Main Market Square below the Frauenkirche, is one of the most famous Christmas markets in Germany. Your group tastes Lebkuchen, the town’s gingerbread, and Nuremberg’s little grilled sausages, then visits the twin towns’ market. The old town is discovered with a guide, from the Schöner Brunnen to the Imperial Castle, which the coach helps you approach, as the hill is steep and cobbled. One day is devoted to Bamberg, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its town hall standing in the river, its cathedral and its nativity scene trail. The journey is long but broken by regular breaks, and the days on site keep a gentle pace, with free time every afternoon.
Programme
Day 1: Journey to Franconia
- Departure in the morning from the place of your choice.
- Comfortable coach journey; our drivers drive for 3 hours at most, then take a 30-minute break.
- Coffee break on the way.
- Drive to Bavaria, with regular breaks.

- Arrival in Nuremberg in the late afternoon, check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Nuremberg and the Christkindlesmarkt
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided tour of the old town: Main Market Square, Schöner Brunnen, Frauenkirche and St Sebaldus Church (on request)
- Coach ride up to the Imperial Castle and visit (on request)
- Seated lunch with Nuremberg’s little grilled sausages (on request)
- Free afternoon at the Christkindlesmarkt and the twin towns’ market.
- Lebkuchen tasting at a gingerbread maker (on request)
- Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Bamberg, a UNESCO town
- Breakfast, then about an hour’s drive to Bamberg.
- Guided tour: old town hall on the Regnitz, cathedral and “Little Venice” (on request)
- Seated lunch in Bamberg (on request)
- Tasting of Rauchbier, Bamberg’s smoked beer (on request)
- Free time at the Christmas market and along the town’s nativity scene trail.
- Return to Nuremberg, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Return to Belgium
- Breakfast at the hotel and a last free moment in town.
- Journey home, with regular breaks.

- Return in the early evening to your region.

Good to know
- A valid identity card is required; departure and return times are adapted to your pick-up point.
- Walking level: moderate (cobbled old towns, a steep climb to Nuremberg castle, which the coach partly avoids).
- Christmas markets run from late November to late December, to be checked each year; wheelchairs and reduced mobility: please let us know when booking.
- Bring your usual medication and your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC); currency: euro.
