Final-year school trip to Croatia: Istria, the Pula Arena, Rovinj and the Plitvice Lakes (9 days)

Day 1 : Departure from your school

• Departure on Sunday afternoon from your school.
• Overnight journey to Croatia with two drivers taking turns on board (double crew).
• Our drivers drive for a maximum of 3 hours, then take a 30-minute break, day and night.
• Crossing of Germany, Austria and Slovenia during the night.

Day 2 : Arrival in Istria

• Arrival on Monday morning in Istria (Poreč or Rovinj area), breakfast along the way.
• Check-in for six nights (subject to room availability); a day without the coach so the drivers can rest.
• Afternoon relaxing on the beach.
• Dinner and first evening on the shores of the Adriatic.

Day 3 : Poreč and the beach

• Discovery of Poreč: the old town peninsula, the former Roman decumanus and the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Afternoon on the beach and supervised free time.
• Dinner and evening at the accommodation.

Day 4 : Pula and its Roman arena

• Drive to Pula, at the southern tip of Istria.
• Visit to the Roman amphitheatre, one of the six largest surviving in the world, then the Arch of the Sergii and the Temple of Augustus.
• Free time in the town centre and a swim in the late afternoon.
• Return to the accommodation for dinner.

Day 5 : Plitvice Lakes

• Early departure for the Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
• Hike along the wooden walkways, beside the lakes and waterfalls, with a crossing of Lake Kozjak by electric boat.
• Packed lunch.
• Return to Istria in the evening, dinner at the accommodation.

Day 6 : Rovinj

• Discovery of Rovinj, a fishing port with colourful façades, and the climb up to the Church of Saint Euphemia for the view over the archipelago.
• Sea kayaking outing along the coast, supervised by instructors (on request).
• Afternoon on the beach and supervised free time.
• Dinner and farewell evening by the Adriatic.

Day 7 : Free day by the sea and boat option

• Free morning on the beach, at the group's own pace.
• Boat trip to the islands and the Lim Fjord, with a swim in the sea (on request).
• Last evening in Istria.

Day 8 : Last morning and departure

• Rooms vacated after breakfast, last free morning by the sea.
• Departure in the late morning for Slovenia.
• Visit to the Postojna Cave in Slovenia, by underground train (on request).
• Overnight journey with two drivers taking turns (double crew), through Austria and Germany.

Day 9 : Return to school

• Drive back to Belgium, with a 30-minute break every 3 hours of driving.
• Arrival at your school in the morning.
