Day trip to the Metz Christmas markets for your group: chalets on Place Saint-Louis and Place de la République, Saint-Étienne Cathedral and the Lantern Trail.

From late November to late December, Metz sets up several Christmas markets linked by illuminated streets: Place Saint-Louis and its medieval arcades, Place de la République, Place Saint-Jacques and Place de Chambre. Your group also discovers Saint-Étienne Cathedral, nicknamed “the Good Lord's lantern” for its huge stained-glass windows, some of them by Marc Chagall. The Lantern Trail (Sentier des Lanternes), a magical illuminated walk, delights young and old alike. As for treats: mulled wine, gingerbread, quiche lorraine and mirabelle plum sweets.

Programme

  • Morning departure from the place of your choice.
  • Arrival in Metz.
  • Guided tour of the historic centre and Saint-Étienne Cathedral (on request), otherwise a visit to the cathedral at your own pace.
  • Group lunch in a restaurant in the centre (on request), otherwise free lunch.
  • Free time at the Christmas markets: Place Saint-Louis, Place Saint-Jacques, Place de la République and Place de Chambre.
  • Walk along the Lantern Trail at nightfall (on request).
  • Departure in the early evening, after enjoying the illuminations.

Good to know

  • Departure and return times are adapted to your group's pick-up point.
  • The opening dates of the Christmas markets and the Lantern Trail vary from year to year and should be checked; weekends are very busy, so we recommend coming on a weekday.
  • Bring warm clothing and comfortable shoes; the meeting point and time for the return to the coach are given to you on arrival.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
