North Holland for groups: the cheese market, Volendam and the Zuiderzee

Day 1 : Journey to Zaanse Schans

• Morning departure from the location of your choice.
• Drive to North Holland, with regular breaks along the way.
• Arrival in Zaanse Schans in the early afternoon and a stroll among the windmills and green wooden houses.
• Visit inside a working windmill (on request).
• Check-in at the hotel in the Alkmaar area.
• Dinner in the hotel restaurant (on request).

Day 2 : Alkmaar and Edam

• Morning in Alkmaar: traditional cheese market on the Waagplein, with its porters in costume (Fridays, from April to September).
• Visit to the Cheese Museum, housed in the weigh house (on request).
• In the afternoon, a stroll through Edam, a small town of canals and drawbridges that gave its name to the famous cheese.
• Cheese tasting at an artisan cheese dairy (on request).

Day 3 : Volendam and Marken

• Morning in Volendam, a former fishing village, along its lively dyke.
• Boat crossing from Volendam to Marken (on request).
• Discovery of Marken, a former island with wooden houses on mounds and its lighthouse, the Paard van Marken.
• Group dinner in a fish restaurant in Volendam (on request).

Day 4 : Hoorn and Enkhuizen

• Discovery of Hoorn, a former port of the Dutch East India Company, its Roode Steen and its harbour tower, the Hoofdtoren.
• Steam tram ride from Hoorn to Medemblik, then by boat to Enkhuizen, on the 'Historic Triangle' route (on request).
• Visit to the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen and its open-air village (on request).
• The coach picks up the group in Enkhuizen for the return to the hotel.

Day 5 : Zandvoort and return

• Drive to Zandvoort and a walk on the beach and the promenade, at the foot of the dunes of the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park.
• Lunch in a beach pavilion (on request).
• Return journey in the early afternoon.
• Arrival back in your region in the evening.
