2-day city trip to Amersfoort for your group: Koppelpoort, the rampart houses, Our Lady’s Tower and Mondrian’s birthplace.
A medieval town off the main tourist trail, Amersfoort has kept an almost intact centre encircled by canals. Your group passes beneath the Koppelpoort, a combined land and water gate, walks along the Muurhuizen, houses built on the old town wall, and looks up at the tall Tower of Our Lady. The painter Piet Mondrian was born here: his birthplace traces his journey from landscape painting to abstraction.
Programme
Day 1: Medieval Amersfoort
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to the province of Utrecht, arriving in Amersfoort around midday.
- Guided walking tour: Koppelpoort, Muurhuizen and Our Lady’s Tower (on request).
- Canal boat trip, depending on the season (on request).
- Free time on the Hof square.
- Check-in at the hotel.
- Group dinner at a restaurant in the centre (on request).
Day 2: Mondrian and the zoo
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to Mondrian’s birthplace (on request).
- Or, for families, a visit to Amersfoort Zoo (on request).
- Return journey in early afternoon.
- Arrival back in your area in the evening.
