2-day city trip to Alkmaar for your group: the Waag and Cheese Museum, a canal boat trip and the Schermer polder windmills.

Alkmaar owes its fame to cheese: its Waag, a former chapel turned weigh house, is home to a museum devoted to Dutch cheesemaking. Your group explores its canals lined with gabled houses and the Grote Kerk, then, in season, discovers the traditional market with its porters in costume. In the neighbouring Schermer polder, drained in the 17th century, a windmill museum shows how the wind reclaimed this land from a lake.

Programme

Day 1: Alkmaar, cheese city

  • Morning departure from the location of your choice.
  • Drive to North Holland, arriving in Alkmaar around midday.
  • Guided tour of the historic centre and the Waag (on request).
  • Visit to the Dutch Cheese Museum, housed in the Waag (on request).
  • Canal boat trip, depending on the season (on request).
  • Check-in at the hotel.
  • Dinner at the hotel restaurant (on request).

Day 2: The Schermer polder

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Drive to the Schermer polder, a few minutes away.
  • Visit to the Schermerhorn windmill museum (on request).
  • Cheese tasting at a cheese farm in the polder (on request).
  • Return journey in early afternoon.
  • Arrival back in your area in the evening.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
