Day trip to Xanten for your group: the Roman archaeological park, the RömerMuseum, St Victor’s Cathedral and the old town.
On the Lower Rhine, near the Dutch border, Xanten was an important Roman city. Its archaeological park, one of the largest open-air museums in Germany, features a reconstructed amphitheatre, temple and ramparts, while the RömerMuseum tells the story of daily life in the ancient city. The old town, dominated by the Gothic St Victor’s Cathedral, has kept its old houses and a windmill, the Kriemhildmühle, where bread is still baked.
Programme
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Arrival in Xanten at around 10.00 am.
- Visit to the archaeological park and the RömerMuseum.
- Guided tour of the archaeological park (on request).
- Reserved group lunch (on request).
- Visit to St Victor’s Cathedral.
- Stroll through the old town to the Kriemhildmühle windmill.
- Free time in the old town.
- Departure from Xanten at around 5.00 pm and return to your area in the evening.
