2-day city trip to Würzburg for your group: the Residence and Tiepolo fresco, Old Main Bridge, fortress and wines.
Würzburg, in the heart of the Franconian vineyards, is home to the Prince-Bishops’ Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose staircase is crowned by an immense fresco by Tiepolo. Your group crosses the Old Main Bridge with its statues of saints, where people come to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. The next day, Marienberg Fortress offers views over the town and the vineyards.
Programme
Day 1: The Residence and the old town
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to Würzburg, arriving around midday.
- Guided tour of the Residence: Balthasar Neumann’s staircase, Tiepolo’s fresco and the Imperial Hall (on request).
- Stroll through the Court Gardens.
- Walk through the old town to the Old Main Bridge.
- Check-in at the hotel.
- Group dinner in a historic wine cellar, with a tasting of Franconian wines for adults (on request).
Day 2: Marienberg Fortress and the Main
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Climb up to Marienberg Fortress and stroll through its gardens, with views over the town and the vineyards.
- Guided tour of the fortress (on request).
- Cruise on the Main to Veitshöchheim and its rococo garden (on request).
- Return journey in early afternoon.
- Arrival back in your area in the evening.

- Departure and return times are adapted to your group’s pick-up point.
- A valid identity card is mandatory for each participant.
- The climb up to Marienberg Fortress is steep on foot: bring comfortable shoes; cruises on the Main mainly run from April to October.
