2-day city trip to Saarland for your group: baroque Saarbrücken, Völklingen Ironworks and the Saar Loop.
A border region with an eventful history, Saarland blends baroque heritage, industrial memory and nature. In Saarbrücken, your group discovers the Ludwigskirche and St Johann’s Market, then the Völklingen Ironworks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that can be explored right up to the top of its blast furnaces. The next day, the Saar Loop can be admired from the Cloef viewpoint and the treetop walk.
Programme
Day 1: Saarbrücken and the Völklinger Hütte
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to Saarbrücken, arriving around midday.
- Guided tour of the old town: castle, Ludwigskirche and St Johann’s Market (on request).
- Drive to Völklingen and guided tour of the former ironworks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel.
- Group dinner featuring Saarland specialities, in an inn on St Johann’s Market (on request).
Day 2: The Saar Loop
- Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Mettlach.
- Walk to the Cloef viewpoint, overlooking the Saar Loop.
- Stroll along the Saarschleife treetop walk (on request).
- Cruise on the Saar from Mettlach (on request).
- Return journey in mid-afternoon.
- Arrival back in your area in the evening.
