Day trip to the Ruhr for your group: the UNESCO-listed Zollverein mining complex in Essen, then the Gasometer in Oberhausen.
The Ruhr has turned its industrial past into a remarkable place to explore. In Essen, the former Zollverein coal mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, houses the Ruhr Museum in its coal washery, reached by a spectacular orange escalator. In Oberhausen, the Gasometer, a former gas holder 117 metres high, hosts major temporary exhibitions and offers a panoramic view over the region from its roof. The CentrO shopping centre is right next door.
Programme
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Arrival in Essen at around 10.00 am.
- Guided tour of the Zollverein site (on request).
- Visit to the Ruhr Museum.
- Reserved group lunch (on request).
- Drive to Oberhausen and visit to the Gasometer exhibition.
- Trip up to the Gasometer roof for the panoramic view.
- Free time at the CentrO shopping centre (on request).
- Departure from Oberhausen at around 5.30 pm and return to your area in the evening.
