2-day city trip to Provins for your group: medieval ramparts and tunnels, La Fontaine’s birthplace and champagne.
Provins, a former Champagne fair town and UNESCO World Heritage Site, has preserved its ramparts, the Caesar Tower and a network of underground passages carved into the rock. The Provins rose features in its confectionery and honey. The next day, Château-Thierry, on the banks of the Marne, is home to the birthplace of Jean de La Fontaine, now a museum. The day ends in the vineyards of the Marne Valley, with a visit to a champagne cellar.
Programme
Day 1: Medieval Provins
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to Provins, arriving around midday.
- Guided tour of the upper town: ramparts, Caesar Tower and underground passages (on request).
- Depending on the season, a medieval show in the town (on request).
- Check-in at the hotel.
- Medieval-themed dinner or dinner at a restaurant (on request).
Day 2: Château-Thierry and the Marne Valley
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Château-Thierry and visit to the Jean de La Fontaine Museum.
- Visit to a champagne cellar with a tasting for adults (on request).
- Lunch at a restaurant (on request).
- Return journey in early afternoon.
- Arrival back in your area in the evening.
