A 3-day city trip to the D-Day beaches for your group: Arromanches, Omaha Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Bayeux and the Caen Memorial.

On 6 June 1944, Allied troops landed on the coast of Calvados: this trip takes you to the places that marked that decisive day. At Arromanches, the remains of the artificial harbour can still be seen, while the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer overlooks Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc still bears its bomb craters. Bayeux, the first town to be liberated, has kept its cathedral and old centre, and the Caen Memorial places these events in the history of the 20th century.

Programme

Day 1 : Journey to Caen

  • Morning departure from the location of your choice.
  • Arrival in Caen in the afternoon.
  • A first walk around William the Conqueror's castle and the Abbaye aux Hommes.
  • Check-in at the hotel.
  • Dinner in the hotel restaurant (on request).

Day 2 : The D-Day beaches and Bayeux

  • A day accompanied by a guide specialising in D-Day (on request).
  • Arromanches: remains of the artificial harbour and a viewpoint over the beach.
  • The German battery at Longues-sur-Mer.
  • Group lunch by the sea (on request).
  • The American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, above Omaha Beach, followed by Pointe du Hoc.
  • Stop in Bayeux at the end of the day: Notre-Dame Cathedral and the old town.

Day 3 : Caen Memorial and the journey home

  • Visit to the Caen Memorial, devoted to the Second World War and to peace (on request).
  • Lunch at leisure, then the return journey.
  • Arrival back in your region in the evening.

Good to know

  • Times are adapted to the departure point chosen by your group.
  • A valid identity card is required for every traveller.
  • The sites are outdoors and exposed to the wind: warm and waterproof clothing is recommended, even in summer; respectful behaviour is expected at the war cemeteries.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
