2-day city trip to Paderborn for your group: cathedral, Pader springs, the Externsteine and the Hermann Monument.

Paderborn, an episcopal city in Westphalia, boasts a cathedral famous for its Three Hares Window and the springs of the Pader, one of Germany’s shortest rivers. Your group also discovers the remains of Charlemagne’s palace and a surprising computer museum. The next day, the Teutoburg Forest reveals the Externsteine rock formation and the Hermann Monument, towering over the forest near Detmold.

Programme

Day 1: Paderborn, Charlemagne’s city

  • Morning departure from the location of your choice.
  • Drive to Paderborn, arriving around midday.
  • Guided tour of the centre: cathedral and Three Hares Window, remains of the imperial palace and the Pader springs (on request).
  • Visit to the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum, devoted to the history of computing (on request).
  • Check-in at the hotel.
  • Group dinner featuring Westphalian specialities (on request).

Day 2: The Teutoburg Forest

  • Breakfast at the hotel and drive to the Teutoburg Forest.
  • Walk to the Externsteine, sandstone rocks rising beside a pond.
  • Climb up to the Hermann Monument (Hermannsdenkmal), with views over the forest (on request).
  • Or visit to the Detmold Open-Air Museum, a village of old rural houses (on request).
  • Return journey in mid-afternoon.
  • Arrival back in your area in the evening.

Cancellation and refund protection

Optional, to be taken when booking: you can cancel without giving a reason and get the base price of the trip back, provided your request reaches us at least 48 hours before departure for a day trip, 7 days before if admission tickets are included, 14 days before for a trip with overnight stays. Price: 7 % of the trip up to €1,000, 5 % from €1,001 to €2,500, 3.5 % above.
