Day trip to the Minett for your group: the Belval blast furnaces, the Fond-de-Gras mining train and Esch-sur-Alzette.
In the south of the Grand Duchy, the Minett, or Land of the Red Rocks, owes its name to the iron ore that made its fortune. In Belval, the preserved blast furnaces rise in the heart of a modern university district. At the Fond-de-Gras industrial and railway park, the Minièresbunn mining train runs through an old mine gallery to the village of Lasauvage. The day continues in Esch-sur-Alzette, the country’s second city and European Capital of Culture in 2022.
Programme
- Morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Arrival in Belval at around 10.00 am.
- Discovery of the blast furnace site.
- Climb up to the platform of blast furnace A (on request).
- Reserved group lunch (on request).
- Drive to Fond-de-Gras and visit to the industrial site.
- Minièresbunn mining train ride through an old gallery (on request).
- Free time in Esch-sur-Alzette.
- Departure from Esch-sur-Alzette at around 5.00 pm and return to your area in the evening.
