Day trip to the volcanic Eifel for your group: Maria Laach Abbey and its lake, then the Andernach cold-water geyser.
The volcanic Eifel offers an astonishing day out. The Benedictine abbey of Maria Laach, a jewel of Romanesque art, is reflected in a lake formed in an ancient crater and surrounded by forests. In the afternoon, in Andernach, the geyser centre explains how this natural phenomenon is formed. A boat then crosses the Rhine to the Namedyer Werth peninsula, home to the highest cold-water geyser in the world, whose jet can reach about 60 metres.
Programme
- Early morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Arrival in Maria Laach at around 10.30 am.
- Visit to the Romanesque abbey church and walk along the volcanic lake.
- Guided tour of the abbey (on request).
- Reserved group lunch (on request).
- Drive to Andernach and visit to the geyser centre.
- Boat crossing on the Rhine and eruption of the cold-water geyser.
- Free time in the old town of Andernach (on request).
- Departure from Andernach at around 5.00 pm and return to your area in the evening.
