2-day city trip to Chartres for your group: cathedral and stained glass, the city illuminated at night and Maison Picassiette.
Chartres Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves an exceptional collection of medieval stained glass and a labyrinth set into the floor of the nave. Around it, the upper town slopes down to the banks of the Eure, with its wash houses and old bridges. Depending on the season, Chartres en Lumières bathes the façades in colour at nightfall. The Maison Picassiette, entirely covered in mosaics of broken crockery, provides an original and poetic counterpoint.
Programme
Day 1: Cathedral and city in lights
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to Chartres, arriving around midday.
- Guided tour of the cathedral, its stained glass and its labyrinth (on request).
- Stroll through the lower town, along the Eure and past its wash houses.
- Check-in at the hotel.
- Dinner at a restaurant (on request).
- Depending on the season, an evening walk to discover Chartres en Lumières.
Day 2: Stained glass and mosaics
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Visit to the International Stained Glass Centre (on request).
- Visit to the Maison Picassiette and its mosaic garden (on request).
- Lunch at your own expense in town.
- Return journey in early afternoon.
- Arrival back in your area in the evening.
