Day trip to Verdun for your group: the memorial, the Douaumont ossuary and fort, the underground citadel and sugared almonds.
In 1916, the Battle of Verdun left a permanent mark on the history of the First World War. The Verdun Memorial brings to life the daily lives of French and German soldiers. Nearby, the Douaumont Ossuary holds the remains of some 130,000 unidentified soldiers, facing the largest French necropolis of the Great War. Fort Douaumont and the underground citadel, visited aboard small carts, complete this day of remembrance, which ends on a sweeter note with the famous Verdun sugared almonds.
Programme
- Early morning departure from the place of your choice.
- Arrival at the Verdun Memorial at around 10.00 am.
- Visit to the Verdun Memorial (guided tour on request).
- Visit to the Douaumont Ossuary and the national necropolis.
- Reserved group lunch (on request).
- Visit to Fort Douaumont.
- Visit to the Verdun underground citadel by cart (about 30 minutes).
- Purchase of Verdun sugared almonds in a confectioner’s shop (on request).
- Departure from Verdun at around 5.30 pm and return to your area in the evening.
