A 3-day trip for your group to the Christmas markets of Franconia: the famous Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt, its Lebkuchen and its grilled sausages, followed by the Reiterlesmarkt in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and its Christmas Museum.
On Nuremberg's main market square, the Christkindlesmarkt spreads out its chalets with red-and-white striped canvas roofs during Advent, at the foot of the Church of Our Lady and the Schöner Brunnen (Beautiful Fountain). Your group tastes Nuremberg gingerbread (Lebkuchen), the little grilled sausages served three in a roll and mulled wine, before climbing up to the Imperial Castle that overlooks the old town. On the third day, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a perfectly preserved medieval town encircled by ramparts, welcomes you to its Reiterlesmarkt and the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Village, home to the German Christmas Museum.
Programme
Day 1 : Journey to Nuremberg and a first evening at the market
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to Franconia, with regular stops along the way.
- Arrival in Nuremberg in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel.
- Free evening at the illuminated Christkindlesmarkt, on the main market square (Hauptmarkt).
- Group dinner in a tavern in the old town, with Nuremberg grilled sausages (on request).
Day 2 : Nuremberg, city of gingerbread
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided walking tour of the old town: the Imperial Castle (Kaiserburg), Albrecht Dürer's House, the Beautiful Fountain (Schöner Brunnen) and the Church of Our Lady (on request).
- Nuremberg gingerbread (Lebkuchen) tasting in a traditional bakery (on request).
- In the afternoon, free time at the Christkindlesmarkt, the Market of the Sister Cities and the children's Christmas market (Kinderweihnacht).
- Free evening among the illuminated chalets, mulled wine (Glühwein) and prune figurines (Zwetschgenmännle).
Day 3 : Rothenburg ob der Tauber and return
- Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
- Stroll through the medieval town: the market square, the town hall, the Plönlein crossroads and the rampart walkway.
- Free time at the Reiterlesmarkt, one of the oldest Christmas markets in the region, and a taste of Schneeballen, balls of fried pastry dusted with sugar.
- Visit to the German Christmas Museum (Deutsches Weihnachtsmuseum), in the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Village (on request).
- Return journey in the early afternoon, with regular stops.
- Arrival back in your region in the evening.

Good to know
- Departure and return times are adapted to your group's pick-up point; a valid identity card is required for every participant.
- The Christmas markets take place during Advent, from late November to late December depending on the city: opening dates vary from year to year and should be checked, and weekends are very busy (a weekday trip is more comfortable).
- Bring warm clothing and comfortable shoes: the markets are explored on foot and outdoors; a meeting point and time at the coach are set each day with the driver.
