A 3-day trip to the Black Forest for your group: the Ravenna Gorge Christmas market below its illuminated viaduct, the old town of Freiburg im Breisgau and the giant Advent calendar on Gengenbach town hall.
During Advent, the Black Forest takes on the air of a winter fairy tale. Your group discovers Freiburg im Breisgau, its Gothic minster and its little canals (Bächle), where the chalets set up around the town hall. Deep in the forest, the Ravenna Gorge (Ravennaschlucht) Christmas market is held at the foot of a high illuminated railway viaduct, in a unique setting. On the way home, Gengenbach turns the twenty-four windows of its town hall into a giant Advent calendar.
Programme
Day 1 : Journey to Freiburg im Breisgau
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to Baden-Württemberg, with regular stops along the way.
- Arrival in Freiburg im Breisgau in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel.
- Free evening at the Christmas market in the old town, around Town Hall Square (Rathausplatz).
- Group dinner in a traditional Black Forest inn (on request).
Day 2 : Freiburg and the Ravenna Gorge
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Guided walking tour of Freiburg: the minster (Münster), Minster Square, the Whale House and the little Bächle canals (on request).
- Free time for lunch and Christmas shopping: nativity figures, glass baubles, cuckoo clocks and Black Forest gateau.
- In the late afternoon, drive to the Höllental and shuttle bus to the Ravenna Gorge (Ravennaschlucht) Christmas market.
- Evening at the market, among wooden chalets, campfires and mulled wine, below the illuminated viaduct.
- Return to the hotel in the evening.
Day 3 : Gengenbach and return
- Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Gengenbach, in the Kinzig Valley.
- Stroll through the little town with its half-timbered houses and discovery of the town hall, whose twenty-four windows form a giant Advent calendar.
- Free time at the Christmas market on the market square.
- Return journey in the early afternoon, with regular stops.
- Arrival back in your region in the evening.

Good to know
- Departure and return times are adapted to your group's pick-up point; a valid identity card is required for every participant.
- The markets take place during Advent, from late November to late December depending on the town; the Ravenna Gorge market only opens on certain days (mainly Advent weekends), access is by shuttle bus from the car parks and tickets must be booked in advance: dates vary from year to year and should be checked.
- The Black Forest is cold and often snowy in December: bring warm clothing and suitable footwear; a meeting point and time at the coach are set each day with the driver.
