A 3-day trip to Saxony for your group: the Leipzig Christmas market around its old town hall, followed by the Dresden Striezelmarkt, one of the oldest in Germany, and its famous Stollen.
Saxony is the home of German Christmas traditions: wooden pyramids, little smoking men and the candle arches of the Ore Mountains. Your group first discovers Leipzig, the city of Bach, whose Christmas market stretches around the old town hall and St Nicholas Church. In Dresden, the Striezelmarkt, first mentioned in 1434 on the Altmarkt, is one of the oldest in Germany and the birthplace of Stollen, the Saxon Christmas cake. Between the rebuilt Frauenkirche, the Zwinger and the Semperoper, the “Florence on the Elbe” sparkles with a thousand lights.
Programme
Day 1 : Journey to Leipzig
- Morning departure from the location of your choice.
- Drive to Saxony, with regular stops along the way.
- Arrival in Leipzig in the late afternoon and check-in at the hotel.
- Walk through the old town: the old town hall, the Mädler Passage and St Thomas Church, where Bach was cantor.
- Free evening at the Christmas market on the market square (Markt) and the Augustusplatz.
- Group dinner in a historic cellar in the old town (on request).
Day 2 : Dresden and the Striezelmarkt
- Breakfast at the hotel, then drive to Dresden.
- Guided tour of the old town: the Frauenkirche, the Zwinger palace, the Semperoper and the Procession of Princes mural (on request).
- Dresden Stollen tasting at a traditional pastry shop (on request).
- In the afternoon, free time at the Striezelmarkt on the Altmarkt, with its giant Christmas pyramid, and at the Neumarkt Christmas market, at the foot of the Frauenkirche.
- Free evening among the illuminated chalets, Ore Mountains crafts and mulled wine (Glühwein).
- Check-in at a hotel in Dresden.
Day 3 : Dresden and return
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Walk along the Brühl Terrace, the “Balcony of Europe”, beside the Elbe.
- A last visit to the Christmas markets for shopping.
- Return journey in the late morning, with regular stops.
- Arrival back in your region in the evening.

Good to know
- Departure and return times are adapted to your group's pick-up point; a valid identity card is required for every participant. The return journey from Dresden is a long one, with the breaks needed for the driver's rest.
- The Christmas markets take place during Advent, from late November to late December depending on the city: opening dates vary from year to year and should be checked, and weekends are very busy (a weekday trip is more comfortable).
- Bring warm clothing and comfortable shoes: the markets are explored on foot and outdoors; a meeting point and time at the coach are set each day with the driver.
